Rockpool Folio
Volume I · Studies of the Australian rockpool
$35.00
30 plates
The Australian rockpool at folio scale. Studies of the intertidal life of the rocky shores of southern Australia — sea stars and urchins, anemones and soft corals, shells and crabs, and the algal flora that holds the whole ecosystem together. The thirty plates are arranged across four sections. Section I gathers eight echinoderm studies — the eleven-arm sea star, biscuit star, brittle star, feather star, sea urchin, long-spined urchin, sand dollar, sea cucumber. Section II turns to the soft-bodied invertebrates — the waratah anemone, tube anemone, jewel anemone, snakelocks, soft corals, zoanthids, staghorn and brain coral fragments. Section III collects the shells and crustaceans — turban shells, limpets, chitons, nudibranchs, cone shells, hermit and rock crabs, the decorator spider crab. Section IV closes with the algal flora and habitat — Neptune's necklace, bull kelp, sea lettuce, coralline alga, plus a rockpool cross-section and a community plate showing the whole rocky-shore ecosystem at a glance. Each plate names its subject in the footer, by common and, where applicable, scientific name. Thirty plates at 300dpi, sized for A4 folio printing or generous tablet work. Delivered as a high-resolution PDF, with lifetime re-downloads from the personal library after purchase. Personal colouring use; not licensed for resale or commercial distribution.
